It's not always easy to assemble a Shifty Station, as there are many ways that something could go wrong.
Take, for example, an incident late in the Vampires vs. Werewolves Splatfest. Two Werewolf players were approaching the rotating doors at mid, trying to break through to the other side before the gap could close on them. Unfortunately, they did not make it--no sooner than they got a few tentacles in than the door crushed them, stretching the limbs with unrelenting force as it chugged through the motions. Eventually, the door jammed, necessitating an intervention from Judd and Li'l Judd.
When the Shifty Station R&D team led by Off the Hook member Marina reviewed the footage, mixed reactions abounded. Marina herself was mortified at what happened, claiming that "a piece of me drowned inside when I saw the poor Inklings squeezed in the door!" Other Octarians' reactions ranged from disappointment to bemusement to (in one Octoling boy's case) a slight bit of humor.
Currently, the victims of the accident are recuperating at Halfmoon Springs Hospital, waiting for their squashed limbs and hair to regenerate. In the meantime, Shifty Station R&D has offered an official apology for the incident and promises to make future iterations of their stage safer for Splatfest participants.
