Finally, some important news!
I am hiring anybody with lots of free time and good manga-esque cartooning skills (e.g. Mr. OMA, Caracal, anyone who can do this without being cut short by personal demands) to do a collab with me around this single idea:
Henki-Taika
"In a certain alternate dimension, everyone has an attendant spirit, called a henki* (Finnish for "spirit/ghost"). Basically, it is a chibi-fied and symbolic potrayal of the person, from his general personality to his sense of fashion, and then some. The same Golden Rule that applies to humans also applies to the henki, but with a bigger significance; to harm a henki is to harm its representative person and the harmer itself. That's why such incidents have thankfully been rare to the point of insignificance. As such, henki are given the same rights (although not the same duties and responsibilities) as humans, and they are regarded as important in nearly all cultures.
However, what makes this story interesting is that there are apparently four people (and their henki) left in this dimension who have the gifts of taika** (Finnish for "magic"), a form of magic arts that had been assumed dead with the disappearance of the Kunine (derived from kuningas***, "royal/regal") tribe, an ancient race said to be the cabinet to the Great Minister of the Ing (i.e., existence). What they don't have, though, is the knowledge of cultivating and using it. And they aren't that remarkable, either; one is a rock star with limitless energy, one a young nanny who always cares about her charges, one a waitress moonlighting as a gossip columnist, and one a successful businessman who doesn't see the point in cliches. Their respective henki are a lion, an eagle, a human with glasses, and a bull.
But one day, something strange happens. Although not apparent at first, the problem soon reveals itself to be the reawakening of an ancient force that seeks to return the dimension to what it once was; nothing. Aware of the disaster-to-be, the Minister realizes that according to a prophecy only (s)he (yes, an androgyne/sexless being) and the Kunine knew, the only people and henki capable of stopping it and saving the dimension...are the aforementioned eight.
What follows is the journey of four people and their henki from different walks of life to supress the Un's almost countless attempts to sabotage their world...."
Got everyone's attention, right?
Now here's the deal; since the only way I can feel confident about drawing consistent CG characters is with a Wacom tablet that I do not have, I will write the script, complete with the appropriate text, settings, layout (which I may provide, just to be generous) and even (if I feel I need to) SFX, and you will draw it according to that script. In fact, I'm willing to make it a hiring contest if enough people apply, and the best manga artist who sticks to the script gets my partnership approval!
So, note/e-mail me (with subject "Henki-Taika Contest"), or comment on my page/this journal, and show me your skills.
I will soon put up character profiles and let you know when I'll start looking at your work.
Thanks once again, everyone!
*I may change this to the Japanese konpaku.
** Also, the Japanese kijutsu or the Welsh swyn.
*** Or Brenhinolites (Welsh)
(Also, I'll put up some OCs that I made during my high school CG class. I'm almost at 500 deviations, guys!)
Devious Comments
I don't know how busy I may get, though. I'm finishing up my comic, and school's around the corner.

Edd: Bravo, well done, Eddy! You've convinced me; your skill and expertise in mundane, misleading, and moth-ridden carnival games makes me want to throw caution to the wind and give you all my money!
Eddy: .....you're making fun of me, aren't you?
I wonder who the artist will be...

You rock. I suck. Enough said.
Look only once; just a fan...
